Training on Understanding Disability and Roles of Parents on Child Development

An in-depth discussion on parental feelings and the stages of acceptance was conducted to help parents fully understand their emotional journey. The session also covered the essential roles of parents and provided ten basic coping techniques, offering parents practical strategies to support their children, foster better relationships, and promote inclusion within the community.

Training on Assessment, Planning, and Home Management Program Development for Children and Youth with Disabilities of Community Volunteers in Alimodian, Iloilo

The goal of the session was to help participants understand the definition, purpose, and importance of assessment for children with disabilities. The session covered the necessary tools and steps to take before, during, and after an assessment, as well as the overall process. Participants were trained on how to utilize everyday materials from the environment for assessments. An in-depth introduction to the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) from the World Health Organization was provided, explaining its components and definitions. To enhance understanding, case examples were presented, demonstrating the practical application of the ICF tool.

Training on Home Management Program for Child Development of Parents in Alimodian

Parents engage in learning the core developmental milestones through workshops and in-depth discussions based on the ECCD framework and the various developmental domains, helping them identify and detect disabilities at an early age. This approach underscores the importance of early interventions, including habilitation and rehabilitation services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy, to support the child’s growth and development.

Theme: “Promoting Inclusion: Celebrating Abilities and Advocating Access.”


Promoting inclusion by celebrating the abilities of children and youth with disabilities, this event showcases their innate talents through dancing, singing, poetry, and creativity in the arts, while also demonstrating their confident intelligence in the Quiz Bee, making it an inspiring occasion where parents and guardians eagerly devote their time to ensure their children can fully participate in this wonderful celebration.

Field Trip and Leadership Training

Leadership development is a vital component of building a great organization. Developing good leaders within the community is essential to growth and sustainability. The best leadership development programs are designed to create and fulfill specific goals that may be unique to your organization and community, but certain core tenets tie them all together.

Children were given tasks that will challenge their selves how to become a good leader, solve problems in their own special way. After the training, the children were given a chance to explore the area and have fun.

The signing of the pledge of commitment between the Municipality of Alimodian and Walk and Work Foundation through the presence of Alimodian’s Mayor Honorable Kenneth Alfeche and Dr. Jessie Villareal, to express the agreement of both parties in taking roles and participation in the Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Project.

Community-Based Inclusive Development Partnership Forum and Consultation of the Walk and Work Foundation Inc. and Municipality of Alimodian, Iloilo

As part of the pre-implementation phase, the Walk and Work Foundation conducted a consultation workshop with the Local Government Unit Line agencies head and SPED teacher, representatives from Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and Qualimed hospital, CYWD participants and parents, NORFIL PFID team, and the Walk and Work Foundation Inc. to identify issues and concerns in catering to persons with disabilities, especially children, as well as the recommendations in resolving problems as basic service provider in the municipality.


The signing of the Pledge of Commitment between the Walk and work foundation Inc. and the municipality of Alimodian was enthusiastically enacted, and indeed the day was finished with hope with a blueprint of the program to be carried out in the three-year implementation of the Community-based inclusive development program in Alimodian, Iloilo as a leap in making the lives of our children and youth with disabilities and their families free from all forms of barriers and livable community and model to its surrounding municipalities.

As part of the preparatory activities in conducting a community-based rehabilitation at the Municipality of Alimodian, Iloilo, conducting a consultation workshop for parents as well as children with disabilities and adults with disabilities to collect data and outputs as a basis for planning and drafting activities for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the community.

The Search for the Most Person with Disability Friendly Municipality/City

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, had its final evaluation to Search for the Most Person with Disability Friendly Municipality/City held in Goldberry Lite Hotel, last July 13, 2022.


The event was also attended by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers, Planning Officers, and Person with Disability Affairs Officers or Focal Persons of the 7 Municipalities. PWD Search and Evaluation Team members are also present during the activity.

Training on Group Development for Parents of Children and Youth with Disabilities in Alimodian, Iloilo

Our team traveled to Anilao, Pavia, and Mina between October and November 2021 to distribute wheelchairs to our beneficiaries.


On October 22, 2021, our team traveled to Anilao, a fourth-class municipality in the province of Iloilo.


Our team visited the Municipality of Pavia, a 2nd class municipality in the province of Iloilo, on October 29, 2021.


Our team visited the Municipality of Mina, a 5th class municipality in the province of Iloilo, on November 9 and 10, 2021.

Rotary Project: Walk 2021

The much-awaited fitting of prosthetic legs for our beloved persons with disabilities was completed on July 15, 2021, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo and the Provincial Government of Aklan through Rotary Project: Walk.


Following an orthopedic evaluation performed by our very own Executive Director and President, Dr. Jessie B. Villareal, and Gerard Ian Reyes, Head PO, nine patients were able to fit their prosthetic legs. An adult patient with a medical condition of bilateral lower limb amputation and one child for his ankle-foot orthosis were also measured.


It was a hectic day, but it was a fruitful collaboration. We would like to thank our sponsors for making this event possible.
