Our goal is to help people with disabilities.


The Walk and Work Foundation, Inc., is duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the Philippines with registration number CN200925194 issued on March 5, 2009. The location of the center is within the district of Brgy. Hibao-an Norte, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, Philippines.


The center focuses on the production of prosthetics and orthotics making them affordable to poor persons with disabilities. The center also deploys persons with disabilities as its workers, thereby providing them with livelihood projects and making them responsible members of society despite their handicaps. Walk and Work Foundation, Inc. was officially started in 2009 with the aim of reaching out to patients and clients who sustained various disabilities due to sickness, congenital deformities, and accidents.


It had a sitting Board lead by Dr. Jessie B. Villareal to manage and its staff. The Foundation is closely supported by Liliane Foundation and NORFIL Foundation Philippines through its various projects.


The project started in Iloilo City in 2009. Approximately there are 8,000 PWD’s in the whole Region VI alone and most of them are classified as orthopedically disabled like a person with amputations in various forms. Victims of Cerebro-Vascular accidents (strokes) and congenital cases or children born with birth defects. Most of these PWD’s are deprived of any help and access to medical care. The planned strategy is to provide access to orthopedic assistive devices like prostheses, orthosis, and wheelchairs in order for PWD’s to be able to walk again and find gainful employment. This will be an integrated approach with cooperation between the different government agencies like PCSO, DSWD, and PHIC.

MISSION

For the Center as an institution, income-generating scheme will be developed in the form of an integrated approach. The Walk and Work Foundation, Inc. will restore the self-confidence of PWD’s and prevent progressive disabilities in children by providing them quality medical assistance prostheses, develop their skills, and access to Physiotherapy. The foundation will also initiate projects and other self-transforming programs in order to enable PWD’s become responsible members of society.

VISION

Accessibility in countries like the Philippines is an important factor in improving the living conditions of Persons with Disabilities (PWD). By helping PWD’s through access to high-quality medical care (Surgery and Physiotherapy) and prosthesis, they will be able to have a better future. The foundation is devoted to helping PWD’s to be able to walk and find work and make them responsible and productive members of society.

GOAL

Our purpose at Walk and Work Foundation, Inc. is primarily to meet the needs of children and youth with disabilities, give them the right to bring back their self-worth and self-confidence, and live a happy life.


To uplift/independently the welfare of Children/Youth with Disabilities (PWD’s) to be fulfilled, providing them a high-quality assistive device, as well as for the parents and guardians to train them on how to take good care of their children with special needs, providing them proper health assistance like home management program as well.

OUR BENEFECIARIES


The Walk and Work Foundation, Inc. assists and accepts all clients with orthopedic disabilities. It more especially prioritizes those children and youth with disabilities from zero to twenty-five years old living in crisis and poverty situations.


A referral is done in cases the needs of the clients cannot be catered to by the center.

GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE


The Walk and Work Foundation, Inc. develop and create a regional independent facility a Prosthetic and Orthotic Center to cover and provide service to the whole island of Panay: Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, and as well as Negros Occidental, these six (6) provinces comprises the whole of Region VI. Furthermore, a physiotherapy center will be established within the facility to provide the PWD’s with their rehab needs in the future.

GENERAL POLICIES


Mainly the services provided by the Foundation are the fabrication of the Prosthesis and Orthosis and other assistive devices that primarily answer the needs of its beneficiaries to regain their mobility and to have active participation in the community. For ages 0-25 years old beneficiaries, the Foundation shoulders all the expenses in the fabrication of their assistive devices, including programs and services in which some of its beneficiaries are involved like in education where the Foundation gives support.
